This is the moment a bank robber holding a gun and a machete negotiates with armed cops pointing their pistols at him – and he tells the officers “the world is finished”.
The robbery attempt took place in the Banamex Bank office in Madero de Pachuca Avenue in the city of Pachuca in the state of Hidalgo in southeastern Mexico.
In the video, the robber can be seen standing with a machete in his left hand and a pistol in his right hand.
Two cops, one of whom can be seen pointing a pistol at the man, try to talk the robber out of his plan. Local media report the officers had been called to the scene during the robbery and caught the man in the middle of the crime.
In the video, the robber is heard talking about the world being “finished” as he speaks to the policemen. The man says: “They cannot control us […] The world is finished.”
Then the policemen answer: “It’d be better if you print that ideology”.
According to the Secretary of Public Security in the city Rafael Hernandez Gutierrez, the man was eventually shot dead when he opened fire at the officers who were trying to stop him.
The two policemen were reportedly transferred to a hospital to receive medical attention as one of them suffered an injury to the face and the other was injured in the arm.
Reports said local and federal police cordoned off the exterior of the bank and no civilians were hurt inside the bank or outside the establishment.
According to local media, the robber also threatened to set off a bomb inside the bank but no explosives were found at the scene.
