Anxious aircrew forced open a plane’s toilet door fearing a passenger had collapsed – only to find she’d been doing her make-up for 30 minutes.

Crew on the China Eastern Airlines plane had noticed that the woman had been locked in the cubicle for half an hour as the flight was preparing for landing.

But when they knocked on the door and couldn’t get her to answer, they feared the worst and forced the lavatory open.

Video footage of the drama on flight MU6303 from Beijing to Guangzhou shows the crew gathered around the door as passengers look on anxiously.

But when they get the door open, they were astonished to find the woman passenger putting on her makeup.

Exasperated, one crew member looks at his watch and jerks his thumb back towards the seats telling the woman to get out.

It is not known how the woman reacted to the forcing open of the toilet door.
