This is the moment villagers kneel on the ground two metres apart as a priest drives by and blesses them during the COVID-19 pandemic.

As public gatherings, including church mass, are prohibited in Croatia amid the spread of COVID-19, Father Mijo Grozdanic found a practical way of getting around the country’s partial lockdown measures.

As devotees in the village of Kresevo in the municipality of Sestanovac in the southern Croatian county of Split-Dalmatia were unable to attend church, they were asked to line up on the roadside while maintaining a distance of at least two metres from one another.

As seen in the footage, the mask-wearing faithful knelt on the ground and performed the sign of the cross on themselves as the priest drove by and blessed them all.

According to local media, the priest spent three and a half hours in the village blessing concerned devotees.
