This footage seen more than five million times shows a university student finding a fat rat with its head stuck in the wall of his dormitory toilet.
The clip filmed by Mr Chen, who studies in Luzhou City in south-western China’s Sichuan Province, shows the hairy rodent staring back at him with its head trapped firmly in a hole in the wall of his building’s bathroom.
He came across the unusual sight on the morning of 2nd December and later had the school remove the pest, which eventually suffocated to death during its struggles.
Mr Chen said: “It was there when I woke up in the morning.
“There are a few holes in the wall because there used to be pipes there. After they removed the pipes, they left the holes there.
“The rat must’ve climbed along the pipes on the other side of the wall and appeared in the hole in the wall.
“Its head fit through the hole, but its body was too fat, so it got stuck and couldn’t move backwards or forwards.
“It suffocated to death.
“It gave me a huge fright at the time. I thought the rat had grown out of the wall.
“It’s been removed. It would’ve been too awkward to leave it there looking at me while I used the toilet.”
