This lawyer has run a complete marathon in his small flat and he is now working to complete enough miles to cross the whole of Argentina.

Lawyer and amateur triathlete Joe Uriburu, 36, completed the 42-kilometre (26-mile) circuit at home in the neighbourhood of Barrancas de Belgrano in the city of Buenos Aires in the province of the same name in north-eastern Argentina.

According to local media, Uriburu set up a running circuit of 26 metres (85 feet) inside his house which he ran until he completed the marathon in 3 hours and 48 minutes

Uriburu told local media: “I set up a circuit of 26 metres, I did 1600 laps in the flat. I ran through the balcony and the living room, I went in through one door and went out through the other.”

Uriburu added: “I did more than 40 minutes over my average time, it was complicated but it was a nice feeling.”

Now the athlete has reportedly launched a challenge on Instagram to complete 3,700 kilometres (2,299 miles) at home, the distance that separates the cities of Ushuaia in the extreme south of Argentina and La Quiaca in the north in a straight line.

The footage shows the lawyer cycling on a training bike his balcony as part of the new challenge he has taken up alongside his Instagram followers.

He told local media he decided to find a way to stay active after Argentine President Alberto Fernandez announced the lockdown on the 18th of March.

Uriburu said: “I was lying in bed when the measure was declared, apart from all the social and economic consequences that affect us as a country I thought I could not stand not moving.”
