An elderly man has been arrested for stabbing and beating a young woman to death with a knife and rock.
Elzie Wagers, 68, is accused of killing Pangie Smallwood, 33, in Clay County in the US state of Kentucky on the morning of 3rd May.
He allegedly stabbed her in a car before continuing to attack her at the home where she was later found.

Local media said Wagers also attacked the young woman with a rock.
Another woman in the home, believed to be Wagers’ wife, called the emergency services.
The Clay County Sheriff’s Office (CCSO) said on Tuesday: “On May 3, 2022 at approximately 12:00 PM Clay County Deputy Paul Whitehead, Chief Deputy Clifton Jones, Sheriff Patrick Robinson and Deputy Dewey Grubb arrested Elzie Wagers, 68 of Arnetts Fork Road.

“The arrest occurred when a complaint came through Clay County 911 of a possible altercation involving the above mentioned subject and a female subject at a residence off of Arnetts Fork Road where the male subject possibly killed the female victim.
“Upon arrival, Deputy Whitehead placed the subject under arrest without incident.
“Assisting at the scene was Manchester City Police Assistant Chief Jason Combs and Kentucky State Trooper Don Trosper.”

Sheriff Patrick Robinson said: “The suspect is in custody, he gave a full confession also. We are still following leads, finding more witnesses to take statements off of.”
He said a row between the defendant and Smallwood occurred on Hoskins Road, adding: “She was still alive, he drove her to Arnetts Fork, to his residence where she jumped out of the car.
“[She] attempted to make it into his house where he killed her on the front porch.”

The prior relationship between the suspect and victim is currently unclear and no motive for the alleged murder has been provided by the authorities.
Wagers has been charged with murder as the investigation continues.
