This beautiful trainee teacher was tragically killed when she was hit by a motorcyclist fleeing from police.
University student Jhennifer Vitoria Ribeiro, 22, had her life cut short when a fleeing biker crashed into her as she was riding her own motorbike in Sao Joao da Boa Vista, Sao Paulo state, Brazil, in the early hours of Friday, 17th June.
The collision happened at an intersection in the town centre after the suspect failed to obey a traffic stop and a police chase ensued.
The Military Police said that the suspect was speeding and that he admitted to having consumed alcohol.
He was arrested at the scene and given medical treatment under police escort for minor injuries and a fractured arm.
He is now in preventive custody and stands accused of manslaughter. Police did not release his name.
A second man was on the back of the motorbike at the time and was sent to a local emergency department.
Jhennifer was in her fifth term of a pedagogy degree at the Centro Universitario das Faculdades Associadas de Ensino (University Centre of Associated Teaching Faculties).
The university took to social media to write: “It is with great sadness that we inform you of the passing of our student Jhennifer Vitoria Ribeiro, from the fifth semester of Pedagogy. Our sincere condolences to her family.”
The victim’s mother – Josiane Amaral – also took to social media to write: “Today God collected you from me, I will love you forever. I’m in mourning.”
And the victim’s boyfriend – Vinicius Rapelli – took to social media to write: “I just have to thank you for everything you did for me in these years that we were together.
“I am eternally grateful for the teaching and learning you taught me, I ask God that everything be fine, you were the woman of my life, my companion in good and bad times.
“I will love you forever. Thank you for everything. One day we will meet again. My partner, my eternal love, my little star.”
Jhennifer was buried in her hometown on Friday.
