This is the moment a biker punches a traffic cop in the face and knocks off his hat after he was asked not to stop on a zebra crossing while waiting at the lights.

Traffic camera footage from the county of Qingshen, which is in Meishan City in Sichuan Province in south-western China, shows the suspect surnamed Xu stopping on the pedestrian crossing on 9th September.

He is approached by a uniformed traffic officer who proceeds to ask him to move off the zebra crossing, which is reserved for pedestrian use only, and also provide his documents for an inspection.

But the suspect refuses to obey the instructions and appears to drive forwards into the officer, who said he pulled the motorcycle’s keys out when the rider tried to escape.

The biker responds by punching the cop in the face, knocking his hat onto the ground.

The video shows the suspect throwing down his motorcycle and his raincoat, and then shoving the officer in the chest as a second cop arrives to subdue him.

Xu is restrained by both cops and carried away as the clip ends.

Qingshen County authorities said they later discovered the suspect did not have a driving licence, and that his bike had not been annually inspected for roadworthiness.

He remains in custody and faces a string of charges including obstruction of justice and assaulting a police officer.
