Market monitoring officials in Vietnam have raided a business which was washing and reselling hundreds of thousands of used condoms.

Officers that raided the property said they recovered 300,000 used condoms that were already being prepared for resale and were trying to find out how many had already hit the market.

They said that the seized condoms, 324,000 to be precise, weighed 360 kg and were seized in the raid on the property in Binh Duong Province, located in the south of the country.

The raid was carried out by The Binh Duong market management department, where many of the condoms were being sold in local markets without branding, as well as apparently been distributed to local hotels.

The man who appeared to be in charged and who was renting the property where the condoms were stored, Pham Thi Thanh Ngoc, 32, claimed that he was sent them in monthly batches to be washed, dried and then rolled back into a form where they could be sold.

Health official Tran Van Tung said the condoms had been confiscated to use as evidence in an upcoming legal case and that they would be disposed of as a hazardous material once the court case was over.
