The owner of a vacation rental home was shocked when he found a couple spending the weekend at his property in the south of the island of Tenerife had died.

The event occurred in the municipality of Adeje, on the island of Tenerife, in the Spanish southern autonomous community of the Canary Islands, on Saturday 29th August.

According to information from the local newspaper Diario de Avisos, the couple, a man identified as Norberto M, 43, and Sonia H, 40 from the island, used to spend occasional weekends in the house since they knew the owner personally.

They allegedly arrived on Friday afternoon and were planning to stay until Sunday.

According to Diario de Avisos, candles were found around the pool of the rental house, which could indicate that the couple was enjoying a romantic evening the night before.

As confirmed by the spokesperson for the Civil Guard after 6 pm on Saturday, the owner of the house gave the notice to the authorities after finding the couple dead.

Newsflash

The couple was found without any signs of violence, nor were signs of violence found in the house.

The house is located in a rural area away from the few houses that make up the small neighbourhood known as Tijoco Alto, so any strange movement of people or screams can easily go unnoticed.

While the Civil Guard confirms that the investigation of the events is almost finished, the results of the autopsy are awaited to confirm the causes of death.
