This is the moment a heavy goods vehicle driver climbs out his cabin to safety after he accidentally crashes off a road and ends up dangling over a river.

The incident was captured by a CCTV camera in the city of Rui’an in East China’s Zhejiang Province on 22nd November.

The video shows the unnamed lorry operator driving the vehicle forwards and backwards as he tries to park the trailer in front of a warehouse.

The man attempting to conveniently offload his cargo reverses several times to find the right angle but suddenly drives forwards and crashes through the stone balustrades on the river embankment.

The front end of the vehicle, which had reportedly suffered brake failure, ends up dangling over the water as witnesses captured video of the driver climbing out the passenger side and escaping to safety.

Local authorities said the heavy goods vehicle owner was not harmed, with the vehicle later hoisted back onto the road using a mobile crane.

Minimal damage was done to the embankment balustrade.

The police said the driver’s hydraulic brakes malfunctioned due to his repeated braking while driving backwards and forwards.
