A woman who met her ex for one last time has been found with gunshot wounds to her chest and her former boyfriend dead beside her.

Police say Suna Tanrikulu and waiter Alper Balci, both 20, had met up to talk over their broken romance one more time on 16th June.

But minutes later – say police in Bakirkoy, Instanbul province, Turkey – Suna was seriously injured with a single shot to her chest.

Her ex Alper was found dead beside her with a bullet in his chest and the gun by his side.

Suna is being treated for severe chest injuries in hospital.

Police say they are now trying to establish who had been holding the gun when it went off.

Local media reports that the pair had met up at an apartment to discuss their breakup.

Neighbours said that a short while later, they heard arguing and raised voices, followed by two gunshots.

Police said they were trying to work out whether the killing was a suicide or a murder.

After examining the swab samples taken from the hands of the pair to see who fired it, a statement will be released, they said.
