This is the moment a quick-thinking gosling goes to ground and rolls over to cheat a sharp-taloned eagle out of its lunch.
The remarkable moment was caught on a home surveillance camera in Anqing, Anhui Province, in eastern China, on Wednesday morning (27th April).
The footage opens with the young goose waddling along the patio when, seemingly out of nowhere, a huge eagle swoops down and heads straight for the baby bird.
But the clever gosling reacts quickly, flopping to the ground and rolling over, avoiding the eagle’s attack.
The eagle can be seen aborting mission as the gosling quickly gets to its feet again and speeds towards the open door of the house, out of harm’s way.
The video did the rounds on Chinese social media, with netizens rushing to praise the diminutive bird for its quick reflexes.
Douyin (what TikTok is called in China) user ‘Zet.’ commented: “So smart, and know how to run into the house”.
And ‘six dolls’ wrote: “It seems to be an animal video, but it is actually a workplace teaching”.
However, others suggested the gosling was more lucky buying Stromectol online than quick-thinking and was simply blown to ground by the wind generated by the eagle’s flapping wings.
‘Zhibo Family Farm’ commented: “The subduction force brought the wind down, and the gosling survived”.
Geese are famously used by police in China, with officers quoted as saying they are “better than dogs” in tackling crime.
