Georgia Boy, 12, Loses Both Unvaccinated Parents To COVID-19 In A Month

This 12-year-old boy in the US state of Georgia has lost both his unvaccinated parents to COVID-19 in just a month.

Marshall, 12, lost his dad Sean Hammond, 51, a football coach at Hammond Creek Middle School in the city of Dalton, after he died after developing complications due to COVID-19 on 30th August, and his mother Heidi Hammond, 44, a teacher at Chatsworth Elementary School in Murray County, died on Friday (24th September).

Sean’s brother John Hammond told local media outlet the Dalton Daily Citizen that the couple had not been vaccinated against the coronavirus and that they were very healthy and active before they fell ill.

A social media post from the Chatsworth Elementary school said: “Our hearts are breaking for this loss and for Heidi’s family and son Marshall.”

It added: “Heidi will be greatly missed in the CES family. Please remember her family and Marshall in your prayers as they face the days ahead.”

After his brother died, John Hammond said: “We come from a family of teachers and coaches.”

He added: “Our uncle was a head football coach. Our dad was a coach and teacher. He got out of teaching when he started having children. Teaching didn’t pay that much back in the 1960s, so he went to work in a coal mine.”

The Chatsworth Elementary school’s social media post said that the funeral for Heidi will take place this coming Sunday at the Peeples Funeral Home at 3pm.

It is currently unclear what is going to happen to young Marshall and if he has been taken into care by family.
