This is the moment a food-loving dog stares patiently at the stringed sausages hanging just millimetres from its nose.

The cute scene was filmed in the Chinese city of Shanghai on 26th November and was shared on the social network Douyin by the dog owner Ms Luo.

She said the dog is a big ‘foodie’ and loves to tuck into juicy treats so she found it interesting when she noticed it staring patiently at the stringed sausages hanging in the room.

Ms Luo reached for her mobile phone and filmed the dog’s reaction, adding that she had not had the chance to prepare the sausages and had left them out without offering any to her pet.

She said: “It is normally very greedy so it was curious that it stared at the new sausages without taking some.”

In the first clip, the dog is seen rooted to the spot as it stands just millimetres from the sausages, apparently enjoying the meaty smell.

Ms Luo leaves the room and quickly reappears to see if the dog reacts, but it remains frozen in front of the sausages.

In the second video, Ms Luo returns to the room to find that the dog has moved slightly, but its gaze remains fixed on the meat treats.

The pooch is seen sitting on the floor with its eyes firmly fixed on the hanging sausages as the video comes to an end.
