This is the moment a young woman is dragged down the road by her handbag after two street muggers on a motorbike tried to snatch it.

The robbery attempt took place in broad daylight in Goiania, Brazil, on 4th February.

Security footage of the drama shows how the woman clung onto her handbag and was dragged several yards down the tarmac behind the motorcycle.

The biker drove in a zigzag and even pulled the woman through a puddle, but she still refused to let go of her handbag held by the strap by the pillion passenger.

Her persistence and pluckiness eventually paid off as the bikers finally let go of the bag and sped off.

The woman was then able to get to her feet with herself and her belongings intact and walked away in the opposite direction.

She reported the incident to the police the next day.

It is not clear if any arrests had been made at the time of writing.

Police typically advise robbery victims to remain calm and not resist.
