A mum has spoken of her shock after hiring a babysitter on Facebook who it turned out had a fake ID and who then vanished with her baby.

New mum Princess Jean Perrin, whose age was not given, had been desperate for somebody to help take some of the strain of looking after her new baby, and had liked the look of the nanny that she spotted on Facebook identified as Kristine Joy Salik.

She said that she had arranged to meet the young woman, and had hired her after taking a copy of her ID documents.

The parents said that when they wanted to go to sleep, they planned to take the baby with them into the bedroom but the nanny, they said, had insisted on looking after her so the parents could rest.

When they woke up three hours later, they were horrified to find the nanny and the baby gone, and after calling police, were told that the ID card was fake.

They raised the alarm on social media, and also spoke to local TV and radio and police tracked down CCTV footage which shows the young woman walking out of the house cradling the child in her arms and then heading off down the road and off camera.

However after massive online sharing of the footage, and news that the police were trying to track her down, the woman turned up with the baby and alleged it was all a misunderstanding.

She admitted that she had not asked permission to take the baby but said she had an errand to do at the shopping centre, and had taken the child with her. When she saw the TV reports, she said she panicked and gone into hiding but then after hearing on the radio and appeal for her to give herself up, had done so.

The parents however rejected her claims and her father kidnapping charges with police who are investigating the case. Police also looking into the claims that she falsified her ID.
