This is the moment two frightened fishermen take refuge from a bear up two tall trees as they try to shoo the hungry creature away.

The incident was filmed by one of the fishermen from the tall branches of the tree he climbed up to escape the scary bear.

The stocky animal is seen inspecting their two dinghies on the riverbank as they shout down to try and make it move away.

However, they only draw attention to themselves and at one point the bear looks up at the filming fisherman, apparently considering climbing the tree to get at him.

In the next scene, the bear inspects their dinghies and appears to gnaw and claw away at the material as the filming man reportedly shouts obscenities at it.

The dangerous mammal does not move from the spot during the duration of the 97-second footage and it is unclear how long the two men were stuck up the trees. The bear reportedly left after having closely inspected the fishermen’s spoiled stocks.

The video was posted on social media by a local TV channel where it has been viewed by 11,000 netizens.

The Ministry of Natural Resources and the Environment of the Russian Federation reminded residents that bear sightings in urban areas have become more frequent, and they advised people to only enter the forests while accompanied by dogs and only when necessary.

They also stressed that locals should not fish in areas where bears are known to.
