At least five complaints have been filed with the Federal District Civil Police against firefighter Raphael Martins Zille Ferreira for fraud.

The Federal District Military Fire Department has also said it will investigate the 38-year-old, who local media say was engaged to six women simultaneously.

Ferreira would reportedly ask for cash or gifts from his numerous girlfriends and fiancees and pass them onto others in a kind of Ponzi scheme.

One victim recalled buying two smartwatches at his request before discovering he had gifted them to another girlfriend, local media said.

He also reportedly lived a life of luxury, lunching and dining at expensive restaurants, with the bill usually paid by the girlfriend accompanying him.

He also used his girlfriends’ cash to build a house and buy appliances and accessories for it, local media said.

One of the complaints under investigation by the police was filed by a woman who was with Ferreira for five years and has a daughter with him.

The fireman is reported to have six children in total but has only acknowledged paternity of one of them.

Chillingly, when one woman discovered he was being unfaithful to her and tried to end their relationship, Ferreira is said to have threatened her with death.

The Fire Department said in a statement: “An investigation into the circumstances has been initiated to elucidate the facts and their consequences.

“The Corporation expresses its opposition to any form of violence, whether physical, verbal or psychological, as well as behaviours that are inappropriate to the principles of morality and good manners.”
