This footage shows a Mickey Mouse-themed Airbus passenger jet which was evacuated when a suspected fire started in its landing gear moments before takeoff.

China Eastern Airlines Flight 5312 was taxiing and prepared for takeoff when its main landing gear was found to be overheating at Guangzhou Baiyun International Airport in China’s southern Guangdong Province.

Its departure – scheduled for 4:30pm local time on 11th October – was aborted and the Airbus B-6507 was recalled to the airport apron, with smoke seen rising from the bottom of the fuselage shortly after.

According to witnesses, smoke from the suspected fire scare dispersed roughly 20 minutes later, with no passengers or crew reported to have been harmed during the incident.

Affected passengers were put on a replacement flight which left four hours and 24 minutes later.

China Eastern issued an apology for the inconvenience caused, and said the landing gear had been sent for further inspections.

It was still unclear at the time of writing what exactly caused the landing gear to overheat.

MU 5312, which is decorated with images of Mickey and Minnie Mouse, was bound for the city of Shanghai, where China’s Shanghai Disneyland Park is located.
