Suspect Yesim Ercetin and her businessman husband, Fevzi Kardeseci, were led away in handcuffs following a raid in their Miami apartment.

Ercetin – a huge star in her native Turkey – was sobbing and still in her pyjamas when she was taken into custody, reported Turkish media.

The 44-year-old model’s bank accounts were allegedly tied to multiple irregular deals in the crypto market.

Her bank accounts have been locked, her passport confiscated, and she has been set with a USD 50,000 (GBP 41,336) bail, according to local media.

Ercetin and her husband are notorious on social media for showing off their lavish life in the USA.

One image showed them posing in the gardens of assassinated fashion tycoon Gianni Versace’s former mansion in Miami Beach.

Her former husband Emre Matras -with whom she has a ten-year-old daughter – has blamed her new partner for the suspected scam.

He said: “It is not possible for her to come out with a bail of USD 50,000. It’s not a simple thing, it turned into a huge fraud case.

“Yesim is not such a person, she suffered because of her husband. It’s going to be very difficult for her to get out of there.”

Matras told how his daughter only managed to avoid getting swept up in the raid with help from her mother’s neighbours.

He said: “The state could have detained my daughter as well.

“In that case, I would not have been able to bring my daughter to my country until the age of 16.

“I managed to bring my daughter to Turkey in two days. My daughter still hasn’t recovered.”
