This football fan is selling his precious ticket to the 2019 Copa Libertadores semi-final to raise money to help treat his dog after the pooch was diagnosed with cancer.

Flamengo supporter Danilo Mello, 32, made a post on his social media announcing the sale of his ticket to the Copa Libertadores semi-final match between Brazilian clubs Flamengo and Gremio this 17th November in the city Rio de Janeiro in the southeastern region of Brazil in the Rio de Janeiro state.

In his post, Mello said that as his dog Doze had been diagnosed with inoperable cancer, adding he needs to raise 7,000 BRL (1,403 GBP) to start Doze’s treatment and help him start his recovery immediately.

In one of his posts Mello wrote: “Friends, we received some bad news this week. Doze has cancer. It can’t be operated on, we need to start treatment with radiotherapy and chemotherapy for him to have a chance to get better, and the cost is expensive, approximately 70,000.

“Therefore, we have decided to try to get some help, I am selling off my ticket for the semi-final of the Copa Libertadores. Flamengo vs Gremio.

“Will we achieve it? If you aren’t interested or cannot contribute, you can help by sharing it with a friend who is a Flamengo friend. If we are lucky there’ll be a few thousand of them out there. Let’s go Flamengo!”

The match between Flamengo and Gremio in Rio de Janeiro is the second leg after the clubs drew1-1 on Gremio’s home turf on 24th October.

The winner of the match will advance to the final set for 23rd November and will play the winner of the other semi-final between Argentine giants Boca Juniors and River Plate for the coveted Copa Libertadores trophy.
