A cleaner in a steel factory has committed suicide by crawling into a 1,600-degree-Celsius furnace used to melt metal.
The shocking incident occurred in the Tekekoy district of Samsun province in Turkey a day after the victim had reportedly told his family his mental state “was not good”.
Local media report 34-year-old Adem A., a cleaner in the factory, walked up to the boiler during his shift and suddenly crawled inside.
He died instantly as the boiler was used to melt steel at 1,600 degrees Celsius. Reports state the management at the factory had to stop production and wait for the boiler to cool down before the remains of the cleaner could be retrieved.
Adem A. was married with two children and local media report the day before his suicide he had told his family: “My mental health is not good.”
Security cameras in the factory captured the moment Adem A. crawls into the furnace, with a bright flash of light appearing after he crawls inside.
He is said to have taken his own life half an hour after starting his shift in the factory where he had worked for seven years.
