This is the shocking moment a large excavator tyre explodes in a mechanic’s face while he inflates it and the force knocks him on his back.

The incident was filmed at a car workshop in the municipality of Honorio Serpa in the Brazilian state of Parana on the morning of 14th March.

The worker, reportedly named as Alexandre Albino, 30, was working on an excavator tyre when it exploded in his face.

In the footage, Albino is seen crouching by the tyre at the back of the workshop while apparently inflating it.

He suddenly straightens his legs and stands right over the tyre to apparently check the valve when it explodes in his face.

The smoking tyre flies high into the air as Albino falls backwards and remains motionless.

The tyre repairman said the workshop is a family business and that it was the first time anything like this had happened to him in over 10 years.

He added that the incident left him startled and dazed, but he was otherwise uninjured following the scary tyre blast.

Albino said: “Now I’m fine, but it was a big scare. I had some scratches and had some stitches in my mouth and chin. I was quite dizzy.”

He said he did not notice any problems while working on the tyre and has so far been unable to identify the cause of the explosion.
