This former cop and his girlfriend have been arrested for murdering their neighbour at a boozy party before dumping his body in the woods and cutting his feet off with a chainsaw.

The couple, named in reports as former Army soldier and retired policeman Krzysztof L., 52, and his girlfriend, Justyna K., 30, were arrested the next day in the village of Wierzchowiska Pierwsze in Janow Lubelski County, in the Lublin Voivodeship of eastern Poland.

The couple are suspected of murdering their neighbour Daniel S., 36, after his body was discovered by a passerby in a nearby forest.

Artur Szykula, spokesman for the District Prosecutor’s Office in Zamosc, told local media: “A passerby revealed the body of the 36-year-old man who had numerous cuts to his head and neck area, as well as having his feet cut off.”

Local media report that the couple often hosted parties and usually invited Daniel S. to their shindigs.

Reports state Daniel S. is believed to have begun chatting up Justyna K. at a recent party, which angered Krzysztof L.

One of the couple are then thought to have stabbed Daniel S., killing him. In a panic, they allegedly rolled his body up in a carpet and took it to a nearby forest.

A local resident told reporters the couple had apparently wanted to throw the body down a well but “were too drunk to do it” and instead left the body near the edge of the forest.

Police reports state that the suspects then tried to cut up the body with a chainsaw, but they only managed to chop off the feet before abandoning the body.

The couple were charged with murder and desecrating a body. Prosecutors told reporters: “Justyna K. did not plead guilty to committing either of the alleged acts. Krzysztof L. confessed only partially to the charges against him.”

The District Court in Zamosc decided to detain both Justyna K. and Krzysztof L. for three months as the investigation continues.

Both suspects face life sentences if found guilty.
