Reports state the businessman is suspected of having locked his daughter in a shoe closet and beaten her until she cried.

Footage shows a bruise on the girl’s lower back as she looks at the camera.

The maid says Syukri asked her to join in the beating but she says she refused as she feared for the girl’s health. Local media report the suspect beat the poor girl in order to film her crying for his social media accounts.

Local police chief Datuk Fadzil Ahmat said Syukri was arrested yesterday (Thursday) and had “since been released on police bail pending investigation”.

The suspect is the founder of Malaysian cosmetics brand D’Herbs.

The investigation is ongoing.
