This is the hilarious moment an adorable singing donkey called Emily hits the high notes and becomes an internet sensation.

Emily the donkey was rescued by a charitable organisation recently and now lives in Pune, a sprawling city in the western Indian state of Maharashtra.

The story follows hot on the heels of Harriet the Irish singing donkey which hit the headlines with her dulcet tones in October after she was filmed singing in a high-pitched voice.

Donkeys are known for their stubbornness and annoying braying noises, but not many people know they can use their vocal cords to sing.

Emily the singing donkey from Maharashtra has become an online sensation due to her melodic noodlings.

According to the NGO Resq Charitable Trust, which rescued the donkey, Emily breaks into song whenever she is in the mood.

In the video footage, the beige-coloured donkey is seen standing in a courtyard while belting out a melancholic number.

With hints of Flamenco to her song, Emily passionately moves her head as she croons away.

At one point, another donkey starts braying and they share a chorus.

Netizen ‘Emmanuel Valentine’ commented: “Nice sweet singing donkey!”

‘Varty Max’ said: “They are very funny animals.”

‘Purva Pradhan’ wrote: “Just adorable. Very sweet and entertaining!”
