This is the sorry moment an apparently drunk mum staggers around and falls to the ground as her young son holds her two-litre bottle of booze.

The incident was filmed in the village of Tamadau Mare in the south-eastern Romanian county of Calaras and was posted on Facebook by netizen ‘Marin Badea’ where it has been widely shared.

In the footage, the mother is seen trying to stand up before falling down again as filming onlookers laugh.

Meanwhile, her young child holds her two-litre bottle of booze like it is a normal routine before the woman eventually gets to her feet.

According to reports, an onlooker asked the mother why she is drunk in the middle of the day and she replied “I am upset because I don’t have enough money to send my kid to school” and then claimed that the bottle contained juice and not alcohol.

The witness also said that the woman’s teenage daughter saw her moments after the video finished and complained to them that her mother was drunk again, according to reports.

Local media said that alcoholism has become a major problem in Romania and other post-Soviet countries which is often highlighted by similar viral videos of parents appearing drunk in the company of their children.

The eyewitness said: “Children are the ones who suffer as they see this kind of thing all the time.

“They have seen it all. This kind of behaviour was considered absurd a decade ago but is now considered normal.”
