This is the moment a drink-driving Maserati owner slams his 100,000-GBP sports car into the undercarriage of a logistics company’s lorry at high speed.
The fatal crash involving the metallic black Maserati Ghibli happened in Taiwan’s north-western city of Taoyuan at just after 3:30am local time on 17th September.
Footage from Nankan Road in Taoyuan’s Luzhu District shows the articulated lorry belonging to Kerry Logistics pulling out of the company car park and onto the dual carriageway before indicating for a left turn.
The Maserati driven by Mr Lee, 38, then speeds into view and crashes into the side of the heavy goods vehicle, lodging itself in the lorry’s undercarriage.
Authorities who responded to the accident said Mr Lee was trapped in his driver’s seat and found without vital signs at the scene.
He was declared OHCA – out of hospital cardiac arrest – and sent to a local hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
Taoyuan police said a subsequent toxicology test confirmed that Mr Lee was over the legal alcohol limit and suspected to have been drink-driving at the time of the incident.
Lorry driver Mr Chang, 45, was cleared of similar suspicions later the same day.
Investigations into the crash are still ongoing.
Prices for the Italian Maserati Ghibli start at 3.88 million TWD (100,650 GBP) in Taiwan.
