This is the moment a bus driver runs after her out-of-control bus as it rolls down a sloped road before it crashes backwards into a parked car occupied by a pensioner.

The incident involving the route K26 bus in the city of Yan’an, which is in north-western China’s Shaanxi Province, was captured on the parked car’s dashcam on the afternoon of 11th October.

The footage shows the female operator, who has not been named, having left the bus at the end of her shift and dropping some items through the driver’s side window.

According to her employers with the Yan’an Public Transport Company, she accidentally disengaged the bus’s electronic handbrake, causing the vehicle to roll down the steep road.

In the dashcam video, the uniformed operator is seen running alongside the out-of-control and driverless bus as it rolls backwards.

She tries to evacuate pedestrians in the bus’s path, but she cannot stop it from crashing into the parked car, causing the male occupant to gasp in shock.

The passenger’s daughter, who was running errands nearby, comes sprinting back to her car screaming: “Dad! Are you OK?”

As the stunned pensioner fails to respond, his daughter continues: “Are you OK? Get out! Get out!”

She lets out a scream as the bus continues to roll forwards and then backwards again as the video ends.

Oo one was harmed during the incident, the Yan’an Public Transport Company said in a statement on 14th October.

The incident is still under investigation, and it was not immediately clear whether the bus operator had been cautioned or dismissed for her part in the accident.
