This is the moment Sergio Ramos is given a hero’s welcome in Egypt despite him being reviled in the country for dislocating Mohamed Salah’s shoulder in the 2018 Champions League final.

Real Madrid captain Ramos is on honeymoon with his TV presenter wife Pilar Rubio and the couple have now touched down in Egypt to a hero’s welcome.

Local media report Ramos was labelled the “dirtiest defender in the world” by Egyptian fans after his challenge with Mohamed Salah saw the Liverpool star taken off the pitch in the 2018 Champions League final with a dislocated shoulder.

However, in the video Ramos can be seen being welcomed with a red carpet and the real Madrid anthem ‘Hala Madrid Y Nada Mas’ is playing through the loudspeakers.

Fans in Real Madrid shirts can be seen greeting him with flowers and asking for autographs and selfies with the Spaniard.

The Spanish national anthem then plays as fans can be heard shouting “Sergio, Sergio”.

Ramos, 33, and Rubio, 41, were recently married at Seville Cathedral at a ceremony attended by a host of stars including David Beckham.

The pair had travelled to Costa Rica for the first part of their honeymoon where they met up with Ramos’ Real Madrid teammate Keylor Navas and his wife.
