This is the moment a drink-driver with no driving licence starts a fire at a petrol station when he races onto the forecourt and smashes into a fuel pump.

CCTV security camera footage shows the driver and his passenger run off on foot as filling station workers grab fire extinguishers to tackle the blaze.

Police later arrested the driver, named only as Ulke O., who they say was over the alcohol limit for driving and did not even have a driving licence.

Fortunately, nobody was hurt in the incident in the Zeytinburnu area of Istanbul and the filling station workers managed to extinguish the fire before firefighters could reach the scene.

The video footage shows the white van speed across the filling station forecourt and hit the fuel pump head on, immediately starting a fire.

The driver and his passenger get out of the van and are seen running away from the scene with barely a backward glance.

Meanwhile, a woman sitting in a car on the other side of the pump, just inches from the blaze, seems too terrified to move.

Finally, her husband, who had been in the filling station kiosk paying for his fuel, runs back to the car to help her escape the vehicle.

The police investigation into the incident is ongoing but Ulke O. is expected to face multiple charges.
