These conjoined twins who share the same belly and anus have been born in a Vietnamese hospital where doctors are baffled over the best way to separate the girls.

According to local media, the twins arrived on 7th June at Hung Vuong Hospital in the southern Vietnamese city of Ho Chi Minh, formerly Saigon, during the 33rd week after doctors concluded that their slow development posed a risk.

To protect the safety of the infants and mother, experts decided to carry out emergency surgery and then transferred the babies to the nearby City Children’s Hospital where they are being monitored in intensive care.

Meanwhile, the mother is still receiving treatment at the Hung Vuong Hospital, according to local media.

The twin girls share the same belly and anus and are reportedly in a critical condition.

Doctors are currently discussing how best to surgically separate the conjoined twins.

Several photos show one of the girls apparently lying across her twin sister as they share the same the same belly and genital area.

There have been no further updates on their condition or when doctors plan to carry out the surgery to separate them.

In 2017, medics in Ho Chi Minh City successfully separated twin girls who shared the same spinal cord.
