This is the moment a taxi driver knocks two people off a motorbike and then flees the scene with one victim twitching on the ground and the other unresponsive.

The incident was shared on social media after being filmed by a CCTV camera at 3.12am in the southern Vietnamese city of Ho Chi Minh City, formerly Saigon.

In the clip, the taxi is seen turning left into an entrance just as the motorbike is whizzing along the side of the road.

The woman, who reportedly died at the scene, is not moving while her male companion is seen clearly struggling on the ground.

The cab turns into the motorbike’s path and knocks the two riders, who are not wearing helmets, off the vehicle, sending them crashing onto the pavement.

The cabbie then gets out to check on them before appearing to consider his options.

He then decides to get back into the taxi and drives off.

Reports said that several bikers and residents passed the accident site, but no one stopped to help.

The female victim’s body was reportedly returned to her hometown in the southern province of Ben Tre while the male biker is still being treated in hospital.

According to local media, 48-year-old taxi driver Nguyen Tan Phu has been summoned by the police for questioning.

His taxi has been seized as the investigation continues.

A representative from the taxi company Vinasun has offered to pay the man’s medical costs and compensation of 20 million VND (676 GBP) to the female victim’s family, according to local media.
