DIET OF COKE: Russian Drug Mule Busted With Over 1kg Of Cocaine In His Stomach

These images show the moment a man with over 1 kilogramme of cocaine in his stomach is pulled to one side by customs officers at St. Petersburg airport.

The images show customs officers going through the unnamed 25-year-old man’s luggage after he flew into Russia from Brazil, before they found the drugs in his stomach.

Other images show customs officers rinsing off some of the 32 small bags of liquid cocaine they say they found in his stomach.

The Russian authorities say the man, who was paid just over GBP 4,000 to smuggle the drugs, now faces 20 years in prison.

The incident took place at Pulkovo Airport in St Petersburg with the Federal Customs Service of Russia saying in a statement on Tuesday, 15th November: “At Pulkovo airport, customs officers detained a drug courier with a kilogramme of cocaine in his stomach.

“Employees of the Main Directorate for Combating Smuggling of the Federal Customs Service of Russia, Sheremetyevo and Pulkovo customs, stopped the activities of a criminal group that organised a channel for smuggling cocaine from South America to Russia.

“Customs officers, in cooperation with the Main Directorate for Transport of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia, carried out a complex of operational and search activities at Pulkovo Airport.

“As a result, a drug courier was detained, who delivered a batch of ‘liquid’ cocaine from Brazil for a cash reward of RUB 300,000 [GBP 4,170]. He moved the drug with a total weight of 1 kilogramme in 32 containers hidden in his gastrointestinal tract.

“In the course of further activities on the territory adjacent to the airport, a citizen of the Russian Federation was detained, who received the drug and later sold it on the territory of St. Petersburg. She also turned out to be the organizer of the smuggling channel.

“A criminal case was initiated against these persons under Part 3 of Art. 229.1 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation and a measure of restraint in the form of detention was chosen. This article provides for punishment in the form of imprisonment for a term of ten to twenty years.”
