A dad who shot dead his son’s suspected killer while he was on his way to court is now facing homicide charges.
Bokio B. Johnson, 46, is accused of shooting and killing Hollis Carter, 21, who was about to answer charges for the killing of his son, Caleb Johnson, 18.
He had also gunned down Carter’s stepsister, Breyiana Brown, 25.
In what is being described as a ‘street justice’ drive-by slaying, Hollis’s father killed Carter with a bullet in the head and then turned the gun on his son’s killer’s mother.
His mother was reportedly hospitalised with multiple gunshot wounds.
In the ‘justice’ shooting, the driver of a black Ford F-150 pulled up alongside the victims’ car and opened fire, unloading at least eight shots.
The New Orleans Police Department (NOPD) said in a statement on 25th March: “The NOPD today (March 25, 2022) arrested Bokio B. Johnson (pictured, black male, DOB: 05-05-1975) in the investigation of a homicide on March 23, 2022, at the intersection of Chef Menteur Highway and Providence Place that left one person dead and a second injured.
“At about 9:00 A.M., NOPD Third District officers responded to a call of a shooting and upon their arrival, officers located the woman lying on the ground suffering from multiple gunshot wounds to her body and the man was located inside of a vehicle suffering from an apparent gunshot wound to his head.”
The police added: “The woman was transported to a local hospital in critical condition.”
NOPD said: “Through investigation, NOPD Homicide Unit detectives developed and positively identified Johnson as a suspect in this incident.”
An obituary page for Caleb Johnson says Bokio is his father.
The police continued: “A search warrant was obtained and executed on Johnson’s residence, where Johnson was located.
“After interview, Johnson was determined to be the perpetrator in this incident and was placed under arrest. He was booked accordingly into the Orleans Parish Justice Center.
“The Orleans Parish Coroner’s Office will officially identify the deceased victim upon completion of autopsy and notification of family.

The investigation is ongoing.
