This helmet camera footage shows firefighters cutting a toddler free after she was seen dangling from a fourth-floor window following a fall while looking for her mum and dad.

Rescuers in Xayar County, in China’s north-western Xinjiang region, were called to the residential block where the two-year-old’s family lives after neighbours noticed her dangling from the window with her head stuck in the burglar bars on 11th December.

Helmet cam video shows the fire service arriving to find local residents and local police already inside the girl’s home, where her parents had reportedly left her sleeping alone.

When the child woke up, she climbed out the open window four storeys high in search of her mum and dad, but she then fell out and trapped her head in the metal security bars.

Fireman Liu Hechuan said rescuers could not pull the girl back into the flat and needed to break the burglar bars around her.

The video shows the child’s head and body being covered with clothes before rescuers attempt to saw the thick bars off.

When that is unsuccessful, they turn an angle grinder and eventually pull the toddler to safety.

The rescue took all but three minutes, Liu said.

The fire service said the girl was very frightened but ultimately not harmed during the scare.
