This is the moment a dad is told off by cops after they stop him on a motorway and find his kids sleeping in a giant freezer perched on the back seat as they head off for a family holiday.

Mr Zhou, a lights goods vehicle driver, was delivering the old bridge back to his hometown when traffic police stopped him in the city of Quzhou in East China’s Zhejiang Province.

Police footage of the traffic stop shows the officer asking: “Who told you that you could transport passengers like this?”

The dad does not respond as the officers film his son and daughter fast asleep in the rectangular freezer in the back of his van.

The boy and girl, who are 10 and 14, are facing either end of the fridge as the cop shouts: “This is a freezer!”

He adds: “I’ve never seen people sleeping in a freezer before. That’s very dangerous.”

Mr Zhou revealed that his kids are on their summer holidays and he wanted to take the opportunity to bring them back to their hometown of Hangzhou for a break.

But the freezer took up all the space in the back of his van, so he made them sleep inside and covered the lid, hoping nobody would notice.

The authorities let Mr Zhou off with a warning but ordered the dad to send his kids on a different car.
