This one-year-old baby was crushed to death by a lorry after he crawled underneath it while his dad was chatting to the driver.

The grim tragedy took place in front of the family home in Jabora, southern Brazil, on Monday morning (12th December).

Investigators say the incident happened while the father was talking to a trucker who was delivering building material.

While the men were chatting, 16-month-old Clair Ribeiro de Lima Krause crawled underneath the lorry.

Not realising the tot was beneath the vehicle, the trucker then pulled away, running him over and killing him instantly.

Civil Police are now investigating him for manslaughter.

The victim’s godmother told local media how the trucker had failed to provide help and had simply driven away.

She added that he had cleaned his lorry by the time he was caught by Military Police, apparently in order to destroy any traces of bodily material.

The godmother told local media: “We are destroyed and in shock at the situation.”

Military Police reported that the trucker had fallen ill and required medical attention.

They said some people had tried to attack him and that he had initially denied involvement in the incident.
