Critically Injured Woman Who Apparently Tried To Commit Suicide Is Freed Ahead Of Trial

Iranian security officials have apparently released a young woman who they say tried to commit suicide by jumping from a second floor after she was arrested for damaging a monument.

Critically injured Mina Yaqoubi had been identified as the woman seen throwing stones at a monument to the martyrs of Arak.

The monument in the city of Arak honours the victims who died during the Iran-Iraq war.

In the footage, the young woman can be seen coming onto what appears to be a vehicle and throwing stones at the monument located in the city which is the capital of Iran’s Central Province.

After her arrest however, authorities claimed that she had tried to kill herself twice, including on one occasion when she successfully jumped from the second floor of the women’s prison where she was being held.

They added that it was only through the vigilance and care of the ward that she had been quickly hospitalised and her life had been saved.

They said that her condition is so serious that she is unlikely to cause more trouble at the moment and therefore has been released.

Her eventual trial for attacking the monument and forecasting the video online – even though she appears not to be the person filming herself – is pending.

The young woman who is apparently married and has a young daughter had been arrested by security forces in her home city of Arak.
