A COVID-19 tester has been fired from his job for offering to issue a woman a false negative certificate in exchange for her phone number and agreeing to go on a date with him.

The incident took place at the Ferry-Dusika-Hallenstadion indoor arena, which has been converted into a makeshift COVID-19 testing centre, in the Austrian capital, Vienna, on 15th March.

The unnamed girl, who is from Vienna, had gone to the test centre to get a simple COVID-19 antigen test, but ended up getting more than she bargained for when she went to collect her results.

According to reports, the tester who was not named told her at the time: “Your test result is here. Your corona test is positive, but if you give me your phone number and go out with me, I will issue you a negative certificate.”

Unimpressed by the inappropriate proposition, the unnamed young woman immediately left and complained to the centre via email, prompting the failed flirter to be fired from his job later the same day.

His identity has not been revealed. However, according to local media, he is an Austrian of Turkish heritage
