Couple Marries At Dads Funeral So He Join In

An Indonesian couple has got married in front of the groom’s dead father on the day of his funeral so that he could still “bless” the nuptials as he always wanted to be part of.

The young couple organised their big day to coincide with the groom’s dad’s funeral and got married in the city of Samarinda in Samarinda in East Kalimantan the Indonesian province of East Kalimantan on 11th July.

The newlyweds had initially postponed their wedding day due to the COVID-19 pandemic, but decided to go ahead when the groom’s dad died of a sudden heart attack while playing sport.

The groom Romadhoni Putra Pratama wanted to coincide the wedding with his father’s funeral so that he could still be there “in spirit”.

He added that he always wanted his dad to see him get married and give his blessing.

Romadhoni said: “Although Dad passed away, I still believe that his spirit is here in this room to bless the auspicious ceremony.

“Even though it’s only his soul, I am confident that my father was still around and able to see me marry my wife.”

Local religious affairs head Muhammad Arga Raditiya said: “Romadhoni had always wanted his father to witness the marriage which was why the couple decided to get married on the same day the father passed away.”
