This is the new army church which is being built on the site of a World War II battlefield in Moscow to celebrate the 75th anniversary of the Allied victory in Europe.

The orthodox church is being built for the Russian Armed Forces at the Patriot park in the Russian capital Moscow and footage shows the site being inspected by the country’s Minister of Defence Sergey Shoygu, 64.

The video shows him inspecting the construction site along with orthodox priests all in face masks. Prayers can be heard in the background as the officials tour the impressive church.

The church is being built to celebrate the 75th anniversary of the end of World War II in Europe, which is normally celebrated on 9th May in Russia but celebrations have been cancelled this year due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Shoygu also inspected a new museum which is being built to commemorate the defence of Moscow in 1941.

The museum features photos of soldiers who died in the war and an outdoor ‘Victory Field’ which will feature a reconstruction of the battlefield of the defence of Moscow.

The museum is divided into several themed areas: the front line of defence, the deployment of troops in the rear, engineering barrage facilities and several more.

The park was built in the area where Nazi troops were stopped and Russia launched its counterattack.

The church is reportedly set to be completed in early May.
