A British expat in Majorca who is believed to have contracted the virus from UK ‘super-spreader’ Steve Walsh is now clear.

The man, whose name has not been revealed, tested negative for the illness after originally showing up as positive but will have to undergo further tests before leaving quarantine a week after his diagnosis.

He voluntarily attended the hospital of Son Espases in Majorca, in the eastern Spanish region of the Balearic Island amid fears he may be suffering from coronavirus last Friday.

The first and the second samples taken the day after his hospitalisation and on Tuesday gave positive results, despite the fact he was not suffering from any symptoms.

He has since tested negative but has been told he could have to remain in quarantine for days for another set of tests prove him well enough to go free, according to local media.

On Tuesday, the man’s wife and two daughters were released from the hospital after returning negative test results.

It is believed he may have caught the virus from UK ‘superspreader’ Steve Walsh at a French ski resort between 24th and 29th January, according to local media.

Walsh reportedly contracted the illness at a work meeting in Singapore and may have passed it onto at least 10 people at the resort.

The Spanish Health Ministry insisted that there has not been any case of virus transmission in the country as all patients were infected in other countries.
