Cops Bust Michigan Mum Kneeling Over Her Young Children After Cutting Their Throats In Bathtub On New Years Day

Police in Michigan busted into a home on New Year’s Day to find a mother kneeling over her two young children aged 1 and 3 after she allegedly tried to cut their throats.

The incident took place in Inkster, which is a city in Wayne County, in the US state of Michigan, on New Year’s Day (1st January), at approximately 9am.

Police were responding to a 911 call requesting a welfare check on the mother and her children, and after they arrived at the scene, they knocked at the door, but no one answered.

The officers walked around the home and one of them reportedly heard a child crying inside, according to a statement released by the Wayne County Prosecutor’s Office and obtained by Newsflash.

The officers then forced their way into the house by kicking the door in and followed the sounds of the crying child to a bathroom.

There they reportedly found the mum, who has been named as Sara Vae Boles, 36, kneeling over her two children, a boy aged 1 and a girl aged 3, who have not been named and who were bleeding from their necks.

There was a struggle before the officers managed to subdue the woman and arrest her.

The Wayne County Prosecutor’s Office’s statement also said that the mother has been charged by prosecuting attorney Kym Worthy with two counts of assault with intent to murder, two counts of first-degree child abuse, and one count of resisting and obstructing.

The prosecutor’s office also said that the officers had had no other choice but to force their way inside the home and that they had found the mother kneeling over her injured children in the bathroom.

The prosecutor’s office said that the children had “neck lacerations and a knife was observed in the bathtub”.

Both children, still according to the statement, were taken to a local hospital for treatment. Their lives are not currently thought to be at risk.

It is alleged that the mum used the knife to cut both children’s necks.

She is currently being held on a USD-100,000 (GBP-74,000) bond, and her next hearing is scheduled for 12th January at 9am at the 22nd District Court. She will be appearing before Judge Sabrina Johnson.

There has been no information about the children’s father. It is also currently unclear why the mother allegedly tried to murder her two young children.
