Cops Bust Breaking Bad Style Drug Lab And Seize Drugs Worth Over EUR 80 Million

German police have busted a Breaking-Bad-style drug lab and seized methamphetamine and other drugs worth upwards of EUR 80 million.

The drug lab, which has been described as a sophisticated laboratory, was found at the Kalkreisse industrial park in the city of Erfurt, which is located in the state of Thuringia, in central Germany, on Monday, 21st February, with the German police releasing a statement yesterday (Wednesday, 23rd February) obtained by Newsflash.

The Thuringia State Criminal Police Office (TLKA) said that it had been investigating what it described as organised drug-related crime for months.

It said that investigators had arrested five suspects. The suspects have not been named and it was unclear at the time of writing if they had been formally charged.

Investigators also found what they described as a laboratory for the production of methamphetamine, which is a drug that was popularised by the cult hit TV series ‘Breaking Bad’, starring Bryan Cranston and Aaron Paul as Walter White and Jesse Pinkman.

The cops also said that they had seized over 10 kilogrammes (22lbs) of crystal meth in the laboratory as well as over 100 kilogrammes (220 lbs) of cannabis.

The police said that the suspects are all aged between 30 and 54, adding that they had also seized two firearms as well as ammunition and “a six-figure sum of cash”.

The court also said that it had seized vehicles and phones, adding that the suspects had been sent to different prisons after being brought before a judge.

The police said that dismantling the methamphetamine laboratory was a delicate process and that they had been assisted by experts from the Federal Criminal Police Office (Bundeskriminalamt; BKA).
