This is the heartwarming moment a cop rescues a dog trapped in mud after a devastating landslide followed flooding that killed at least three people.

The dog, dubbed Moises, which means Moses, was found trapped in the mud on the Piedecuesta-Pescadero road in the municipality of Piedecuesta in the north-eastern Colombian department of Santander. In the bible Moses was also rescued from a flood where he was adopted by an Egyptian Princess.

The dog was found by police officer Jose Vicente Caceres who plucked it out of the thick mud and gave it a good hose down, as seen in the video footage.

The clip was shared with the message “Let me introduce Moises, a new friend who got a second chance at life.”

According to reports, Moises initially had mobility problems, but after being treated by a vet he is now on the mend.

The municipality of Piedecuesta has recently been batted by strong rainstorms and landslides caused by a swollen river that runs through a nearby gorge, according to local media.

The authorities continue to search for missing residents believed to have been dragged by a landslide that reportedly killed three people so far.
