A crazed cop shot his pregnant wife dead and then gunned down four of his colleagues at his police station before turning the gun on himself, it has emerged.

The horror shooting spree took place in Pernambuco state, north-eastern Brazil, on 20th December.

Military Police officer Guilherme Barros shot his three-months-pregnant wife, Claudia Gleice da Silva, seven times at their home in Cabo de Santo Agostinho.

The 33-year-old mum-to-be was rushed by relatives to the local emergency department, but she died from her wounds.

Barros then drove to the 19th Military Police Battalion, where he worked, in Recife.

There, he shot four colleagues in the monitor room before killing himself.

Lieutenant Wagner Souza was killed at the scene, while Major Aline Maria Lopes dos Prazeres de Luna initially survived and underwent surgery.

However, she died from her injuries in the ICU overnight.

Corporal Paulo Rebelo was wounded in the shoulder and was taken to hospital, while Sergeant Maurino Uchoa was treated and discharged.

Claudia’s killing will be investigated by Civil Police as a case of femicide, while the other crimes will be investigated via a Military Police inquiry.

Aline, 42, had served in the Military Police for 24 years. The force described her as “a courageous police officer committed to society’s defence”.

She leaves behind a husband and a daughter.
