Cops believe this mum was beaten to death with an iron bar and her police officer ex-boyfriend has been arrested as the main suspect.

Jesica Minaglia, 30, was found dead in her home in the town of Comandante Luis Piedrabuena in the Santa Cruz province located in Patagonian region of southern Argentina.

Local media report the victim was found “face up with bloodstains on her clothes and on the floor”. The murder weapon is thought to be an “iron bar that was found at the scene”, however, the circumstances of her murder are still unclear.

Minaglia’s ex-boyfriend Pablo Alejandro Nunez, 36, a corporal in the local police force, reported the death to police after calling them claiming he had discovered her lifeless body.

He was taken in for questioning shortly after her body was found. Nunez was arrested yesterday (Thursday) as the main suspect after authorities realised the couple, who had a child together, had recently split up.

Puerto Santa Cruz prosecutor Noelia Ursino ordered Nunez’s arrest after she was chosen to investigate the case. She also had authorities go to the victim’s house to look for more evidence.

Another reported theory investigators are considering is that Minaglia was the victim of a robbery but resisted which resulted in her murder. It is unclear if any objects were missing from her home.

Sources investigating the case said they “are looking for technological support personnel to analyse the mobile phones,” according to local reports.

Minaglia’s body was taken to the city of Rio Gallegos located in the same province to have her autopsy where they hope to determine her exact cause of death and uncover more details.

The investigation is ongoing.
