The Mexican clinic where a stunning young model underwent liposculpture and a nose job but died from cardiorespiratory failure hours later has been closed by the authorities.

Elena Carolina Sada Sandoval, 32, from the Mexican state of Coahuila, died after reportedly undergoing plastic surgery in the city of Monterrey in the north-western state of Nuevo Leon.

Reports said the model visited the Obispado Specialist Medical Centre for liposculpture treatment and nose job at the same time.

The state’s department of social communication has confirmed that the clinic has been temporarily closed as the investigation continues.

Meanwhile, the state health secretary Manuel de la O Cavazos confirmed that the clinic has all the required permits to carry out its practice and that the staff are certified.

He also confirmed that the clinic has been temporarily closed as the investigation determines whether negligence played a part in the model’s death.

The authorities are waiting for the autopsy results before commenting further.

Initial reports said that the victim suffered from cardiorespiratory failure just hours after the procedure.

A close friend of the model, who is a fashion designer, informed the mother of two’s family about the tragic death.

A similar incident took place in May when a 36-year-old woman died one day after undergoing liposculpture at the Esbelt Centre in San Jeronimo, just a few miles from the clinic the model visited.

In that case, the investigation concluded that the doctor in charge of the procedure was a specialised paediatrician and not a qualified plastic surgeon, according to reports.

The investigation into the model’s death is ongoing.
